Bina Baitel for Aton cabinet awarded

BY LE FRENCH DESIGN 100

a worldwide award whose mission is to select the 100 object & interior design projects that make French design shine internationally.

Le FRENCH DESIGN 100, has undertaken the mission of selecting 100 objects (furniture, decoration, …) & spatials (hotels, boutiques, restaurants, …) design projects that help spread French design around the world. In 2019, the first edition of the prize supported by the French Ministry of Culture and sponsored by Philippe Starck, was held at the Musée des Arts Decoratifs in Paris.

In January 2022, this second edition, exceptionally placed under the High Patronage of Mr Emmanuel MACRON, President of the French Republic, reflects the new landscape of French design. It welcomed a jury of international designers to ensure its neutrality and international vision.

A unique prize, one hundred winners

Since 1911, Maison Philippe Hurel has defended the know-how of French craftsmanship and constantly seeks excellence in creations and design. Therefore we are proud that ATON was selected among hundreds of candidates and awarded by Le FRENCH DESIGN 100’s international jury.

The jury selected the projects that excelled the most in diffusing the spirit and values of French design throughout the world. Led by jury president Hervé Lemoine, director of Mobilier national, the jury includes a prestigious selection of international experts such as Deyan Sudjic (director emeritus of the Design Museum in London), Jennifer Flay (creative director of the FIAC, Paris), Leila Anna Wahba (director and head curator of the Architecture + Design Museum, Los Angeles) or Miryon Ko (Art & Culture Director, Cartier Japan, Tokyo).

About ATON

Designed by Bina Baitel, ATON was born from a fascination for « sun chiseled ». This specific veneering technique unfolds for this unique piece three dimensions (on 3 sides). Two overlapping radiations from the each ends of the sideboard meet in its centre. The volume is uncluttered, offering all the external beauty of woodworking. Only the subtle handles enhance the upfront faces.

When the doors are opened, a luminous interior in Bleu Orage lacquer is revealed

A beacon piece from our collection, Aton expresses all the excellence of Philippe Hurel’s workmanship.
